Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Our instructors serve students all along the northern Colorado Front Range. Lessons typically are held at our studio in Longmont, though we occasionally teach in-home lessons for an additional convenience fee.
Do you offer online lessons?
Yes. While we strongly encourage in-person lessons in nearly all cases, online lessons may be appropriate in certain circumstances. Click here to read the statement we released concerning online lessons shortly after Colorado’s first “stay-at-home” orders went into effect during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Are group theory/history lessons required if I just want private lessons for my child’s instrument?
No, group lessons are not required. Our instructors know the importance of music theory and frequently incorporate theory concepts into private lessons. That said, since proficiency on the student’s chosen instrument still takes up the bulk of instructional time, many important theory and history concepts unavoidably are neglected during private lessons. Group lessons are a fun, cost-effective way to fill this deficit.

What is your approach to music education?
At Front Range Academy of Music, we believe discipline and fun are not mutually exclusive. Much to the contrary, our experience is that a systematic, disciplined approach to music as taught by a qualified instructor makes learning music even more fun that it would be in a less structured environment. Such is the case for all students, even those who do not aspire to pursue music professionally.
Why should I get private music lessons for my child?
Perhaps nothing else in the human experience can equal music’s ability to simultaneously sharpen the mind, quiet the soul, and convey ideas on a deep, emotional level. For that reason, we believe that music is one of the most precious and versatile gifts a parent can give his or her child. We hope that you will consider allowing us to assist you in giving that gift.
